WSHT delivered a complete iron ore processing facility in Kazakhstan, processing 5 million tonnes per year of magnetite ore to produce a high-grade iron concentrate for export to steel mills.
Process Design
Crushing Circuit:
- Primary jaw crusher
- Secondary and tertiary cone crushers
- Pre-screening and product classification
Magnetic Separation:
- Coarse cobbing magnetic separators
- Primary and secondary grind circuits
- Fine magnetic separation
- Concentrate thickening and filtration
Production Results
- Throughput: 5.2 Mtpa (design 5.0 Mtpa)
- Concentrate grade: 65.5% Fe (design 65%)
- Iron recovery: 78%
- Product moisture: 9% (filter cake)

Project Execution
The project was completed within 24 months, with first concentrate produced 20 months after contract signing. Local workforce training was a key project priority.
