Copper — The Metal of Electrification
Copper demand is growing rapidly, driven by electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy (solar and wind farms, grid connection), power transmission and data center construction. Mining companies are investing to expand copper production, but long lead times for new mine development suggest sustained demand pressure and a structural need for efficient, high-recovery copper processing plants.
WSHT's copper ore crushing and beneficiation expertise supports our customers in producing copper concentrate efficiently, whether by conventional flotation or by hydrometallurgical (SX-EW) flowsheets.
Battery Minerals — Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, Phosphate and More
The battery and EV revolution is creating unprecedented demand for lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, graphite and phosphate. Both hard-rock mining and brine-based lithium operations are expanding rapidly. Nickel and cobalt production is growing across sulphide and laterite deposits. Phosphate demand is benefiting from battery cathode chemistry as well as continued fertilizer demand.
WSHT is actively developing mineral processing solutions for these critical battery minerals, including crushing, grinding, physical beneficiation and (in partnership) hydrometallurgical refining.
Iron Ore and Steel — Continued Global Infrastructure Demand
Iron ore demand remains strong, supported by continued global infrastructure construction, urbanization and steel production growth in emerging economies. The quality premium for high-grade, low-impurity iron ore continues to incentivize investment in beneficiation (crushing, screening, magnetic separation, flotation) to upgrade lower-grade ores into marketable, high-grade products.
WSHT designs and builds iron ore crushing, screening, magnetic separation and flotation plants tailored to each deposit's ore characteristics.
ESG, Water and Tailings — Raising the Bar for Mining Operations
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance is now a key factor in mine financing, permitting and community acceptance. Key ESG focus areas include water consumption and water recycling, tailings storage safety, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, community engagement and supply chain transparency.
WSHT responds with water recycling circuits, dry-stack tailings filtration, energy-efficient equipment designs, dust collection systems and environmentally-conscious plant layout engineering.
Digital Transformation and Automation
Mining is undergoing a digital transformation. Sensors, IoT connectivity, cloud-based data platforms, PLC/SCADA systems, AI-driven process optimization and remote operation centers are becoming standard for new mining projects. WSHT equips new plants with comprehensive automation including PLC/SCADA control, VFD drives, process data logging and remote monitoring capability.
Digital transformation raises mine productivity, improves safety, reduces operating cost and enables faster, better-informed operational decisions.
