BHP Invests $229.5M in Yandi Crushing Circuit Upgrade
BHP Iron Ore has awarded GR Engineering Services a $229.5 million EPC contract for the Yandi Eastern Front-End Facility Upgrade in Western Australia's Pilbara region. The project forms part of the broader Ministers North Project, a high-grade Brockman ore deposit southeast of Yandi.
Project Scope
The upgrade involves a brownfield expansion of the Yandi Eastern primary crushing circuit, including a new 20 Mt/y two-stage crushing plant designed to feed Ministers North ore into existing Yandi operations. The project will leverage existing infrastructure to sustain production volumes and support BHP's 305 Mt/y medium-term iron ore production target.

The Ministers North Project represents a $900 million investment (100% basis) by BHP, demonstrating continued confidence in sustained iron ore demand. GR Engineering has commenced early engineering works and long-lead item ordering, with subsidiary Paradigm Engineers providing specialist electrical and instrumentation services.
This project showcases the critical infrastructure investment required to support ore production and processing operations in remote mining regions, with the Pilbara remaining Australia's primary iron ore production centre and a critical supplier to global steel markets.
